Who we are
Cortex Connect is operated by Cortex, Dubai, United Arab Emirates ("Cortex", "we"). For anything about your data, contact us on WhatsApp.
The short version
- You give us your profile yourself, by pasting what your own AI wrote or answering our quiz. You review it before it is saved.
- We don't scrape social media, buy data, or create profiles of people who haven't signed up.
- Other members never see your raw answers, scores, faith answers, dealbreakers, email or phone.
- We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
- You can download everything or delete everything from Settings, at any time.

We do not collect health data, sexual history, ID numbers, precise location or contacts. Chat photos are re-encoded on your device before upload, which removes location and camera data.
Your own AI
If you use ChatGPT, Claude or another assistant to write your profile, that conversation happens in your account with that provider, under their terms. We only receive what you paste into Cortex. Our prompt tells your AI to leave out surnames, contact details, addresses, health information and other people's details.
How matching works
Matching runs on our servers with a rules based engine described in full on The science. No third party AI receives your profile. A match is a suggestion. Contact only starts when one of you sends a nudge and the other accepts.

Data is stored outside the UAE. Transfers follow the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree Law No. 45 of 2021) and the provider's contractual safeguards.
Security
- Encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- Row level security on every table: each member can only read their own data and the conversations they are part of.
- Chat photos sit in a private bucket and open only through links that expire in 10 minutes.
- Phone numbers are stored separately and revealed only after a mutual swap.
- Sign in by one time code. We never store passwords.
How long we keep it
- Your profile and matches: until you delete your account.
- Paused accounts: kept until you return or delete.
- Payment and credit records: as long as UAE law requires.
- Safety reports: up to 2 years, so repeat offenders can be stopped.
Your rights
You can access, correct, download, restrict or delete your data, and withdraw consent at any time, from Settings or by contacting us. Withdrawing consent stops matching. You can also complain to the UAE Data Office.
Adults only
Cortex Connect is for people 18 and over. We delete accounts we learn belong to anyone younger.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we tell you in the app before it applies.
